My three year old wanted to make ornaments for his family and friends; we turned to Perler beads. I found a ton of ideas online but they were pretty intricate for a little kid and I barely had the patience to lay out the patterns. We came up with a solution! Follow the directions below for a simple ornament that a kid can design all on their own.
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350
Step 2: Pull out a muffin tin and spray with cooking spray (so the beads don't stick to the tray)
Step 2: Fill each slot with one layer of beads.
Step 3 (optional): Sprinkle some glitter onto the beads
can you tell which one I did...
Step 4: Place in the oven for 15 minutes
Step 5: Use a knife to edge ornaments out of the tin
Step 6: While the ornaments are still a bit warm stick a toothpick where you want a hole for the wire/ribbon/etc.
Step 7: Place the wire/ribbon/yarn (whatever you want to hang with) through the hole
We had so much fun making these and it only took 30 minutes. The good news is that we were able to finish the project before this monster woke up from her nap!!
